Artist statement:

Textures, rust and organic matter are elements that naturally attract the artist in the creation of her pieces. Using hand building techniques such as coils and slabs, Daisy shapes her more traditional creations. To these, she incorporates unusual handles, wild clays and even fragments of sedimentary rock, such as shale, giving them a new identity. She scrapes certain areas to create cuts and applies layers of clay to form reliefs. The process of constructing each piece is instinctive and organic, almost like an extension of the material itself. At the next stage, glaze — made by the artist herself — is applied in a bold manner, adding unique tones and new dimensions to the works. The result are objects that evoke the feeling of having been submerged or buried for a long period of time, as if water, earth and the years passing had given them their current appearance.
